They provide legal assistance and support to children and their families, as well as advocate for stronger laws and policies to protect children from abuse. In the context of this research, I provided a study on the Italian system (covering both civil and criminal law) as part of a pro bono study of National Laws regarding compensation for victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The scope of this assignment was to understand to which extent the right to compensation for child victims of sexual abuse is guaranteed to online child pornography (or other forms of abuse that do not involve direct contact between the perpetrator and victim), with a particular emphasis on cross-border cases involving foreign perpetrators. This initiative seeks to provide a comprehensive and updated understanding of the challenges faced by child victims and to make recommendations about how to improve access to compensation for children.
