May. 2001 - Feb. 2024Youngstown, Ohio AreaIn this communication-centric position, responsibilities surround the strategy, programming, and operations of an NPR-affiliated Public Radio station as well as its affiliated web streams, podcasts, website, and social media channels. Also responsible for managing all on-air and development staff and building relationships with stakeholders and community partners to facilitate content creation, fundraising, and delivery of programming. Produced daily marketing collateral in the form of 1,000’s of on-air scripts promoting community events and local programs, cross-promotions for radio programming, and business underwriting for station sponsors. Own all website strategy, maintenance, and content creation, writing web articles for internal programs and features, sponsored posts, local, national, and international news, and producing other high-value content. Leverage complex, multi-source data sets to identify programming performance and build strategic improvement plans for on-air programming. Analyzed data from the Neilson Rating Service, web data, focus groups, and listener surveys to increase listenership to 30K per week (averaging 8 listening hours each), and increased cumulative market share from 1.4% to 3.5%. Partner with key stakeholders to develop a broad communication strategy for the radio station and program streams that aligns with the station's overall mission and the community’s core values. Manage a team of 10-15 content creators to carry out station operations, programming, and original content creation. Leverage a developmental approach to coaching on practical job skills as well as interpersonal and leadership skill development through intentional experience design. Introduced podcasting to the station and currently produce 4 ongoing podcasts from prominent thought and community leaders.
