The Summit of the 8 brings the heads of state of the world’s largest economies together to set global economic policy. EUROWEB allowed analysts in the field to get up-to-the-minute intelligence using Web-based technologies. It was a high-end document management system that allowed analysts to input analytical information into the system. The analysts in the field would then be notified immediately of the new information via e-mail. This extremely secure system performed flawlessly over wireless encrypted modems and was 100 percent operational during the live run during the Summit of the 8, even when traditional means of communications failed. In fact, for two days the only way to get finished analytical intelligence was through EUROWEB.
