Mar. 2015 - Dec. 2018Colorado-Forest inventory field work across Colorado for 23 weeks with extensive overnight travel for up to 7 days, mostly camping -Variety of field measurements including but not limited to, those involving tree/sapling/seedling data, vegetation diversity, fuel loading measurements and soil collection in collaboration with the United States Forest Service under the Wildfire Risk Reduction Grant Program -Responsible for maintenance, upkeep of crew equipment and operation of 4-wheel drive vehicle -Ability to carry at least 35 pound pack at elevations ranging from 3,500 to 14,000 feet. Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions while hiking to each location -Project implementation, map and compass orienteering and navigation, and aerial photo interpretation. Experience using inventory tools including clinometer, range-finder, loggers tape -Basic knowledge of western United States forest management techniques in the following areas: harvesting systems, forest management planning, wildfire hazard mitigation, prevention -Knowledge of dendrology and vegetation identification
