• Handling problem calls related to all problems in the plant be it networking, hardware, software, etc I was appointed Project Leader for the AD/XP migration at the Mercedes Benz Plant in East London, the project was a countrywide project at all Mercedes Benz offices and regional offices. The objective of the project was that it would provide a standard operating platform (Windows XP) across the company in order to optimize software distribution and patch (virus) management. My involvement brought me into daily contact with Senior Management within Mercedes Benz IT as well as IT Management in Germany at DaimlerChrysler AG. The following were my duties as Project Leader: • Participate in detailed planning of the deployment to the individual users in EL
• Perform the AD user migration for entire Mercedes Benz SA with migration tools provided by Germany and with the assistance of Germany
• Liaise with project management and business in EL and Zwartkop on the deployment
• Prepare the deployment procedures and manuals
• Appoint deployment team (temporary personnel) in EL
• Control the deployment in EL and the performance of the deployment team
• Ensure that the staging area (lab) for the preparation of the new PC’s is set up and available during the deployment
• Ensure that the new PC’s required for deployment is made available on each day of deployment as required.
• Control the deployment by the team
• Indicate non-compliant items (HW & SW) to project management for action by them
• Ensure that replaced/old PC’s are removed to the designated store for disposal
• Identify VIP’s and arrange for deployment to them
