I closed out my time with CTA successfully building an International Agent network, and rebuilding the Gold Coast Campus operations and team.

Jan. 2008 - Dec. 2009As the inaugural chairman of the Creative Alliance I was charged with the incorporation of the alliance into an incorporated association, developing a strategic direction for the alliance and building a cohesive management team that would take the alliance into the future. We based the alliance on a simple premise for building a sustainable membership: "It's not what the alliance can offer its members, but rather how the members could contribute and participate in their alliance" This formed the foundation for a sustainable organisation and a culture of members taking ownership in the ongoing development of the alliance, for the benefit of all members. I spent much time developing core tools for the alliance including the 'Showcase' where creative people could make themselves visible to the world, and encourage collaboration from others across the world. It is very rewarding to see my 18 months of hard work transform into a great platform for great creative people. It is now in the good hands of the creative community of the Sunshine Coast.

My role was to work with them to develop and assess the idea for its commercial potential and then structure a viable path to actually commercialise that idea. Structuring and funding these new enterprises was a part of the process, along with developing the teams and channel to market for them. Sometimes the best outcome was to not even start the process! Saving them time, money and angst... Along the way I had the privledge of meeting and working with some truly entrepreneurial people and some great ideas... a really COOL business.

Overcoming the naysayers and sceptics who constantly told us that the internet was just a fad and could not be harnessed. Well I guess we had the last laugh!

Within 2 years we grew the business to include 2 restaurants, the famous Barefoot Bar, a general store, video store, delicatessen, bottleshop and out catering business. We introduced tight controls and sought tirelessly to meet customer needs and always included a big dose of FUN for our customers. Being located on an island brought its own challenges in terms of logistics and staffing, in particular when running the famous Whitehaven Beach party annually during Yacht Race week. This was a great time with lots of fun and hard work ...
