Executive Director
Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers (CAMAP)Executive Director
May. 2022The Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers (CAMAP) is a national, Canadian charity that received charitable status in 2021. At its core, CAMAP is made up of clinicians who provide MAiD services including assessment for eligibility and the provision of MAiD itself. While CAMAP is predominantly an association of nurse practitioners and physicians (family physicians, hospitalists, internists, anaesthetists, neurologists and more), anyone involved in the work or interested in supporting it is most welcome to join their community. This includes social workers, nurses, care coordinators, pharmacists, nurses, lawyers, researchers, administrators, pastoral care, and more. They are a diverse community from coast to coast to coast. Their purpose is to support those who work in this new field of healthcare essentially through providing guidance and education both to those new to the delivery of MAiD as well as to those who are seeking to enhance and deepen their knowledge. In May 2022, I joined CAMAP as their inaugural executive director at a time of great transition for the organization. The board is transitioning from an operating board to a governance board, will continue to focus on enhancing training, learning and education opportunities for its members, and revenue generation to support their important mission. If you wish to learn more about CAMAP's mission or how to contribute to this important cause, feel free to reach out to me. I’d gladly share with you how we are making a difference. I can be reached at executivedirector@camapcanada.ca.

In my first 12 months with the School, I wrote a campaign framework and plan for the School's campaign for a new student collaboration space and then worked with donors, the advancement team, the Dean, volunteers, and central advancement leaders to secure more than 60% of the campaign goal. In this role, I was responsible for recruiting team members and retaining them by building and maintaining an environment where the team felt safe to bring their best to their roles everyday and were challenged to grow personally and professionally. I worked 100% remotely in this position due to the global pandemic.

Human Resources Planner
Government of Newfoundland and LabradorHuman Resources Planner
Aug. 2002 - Aug. 2004Grand Falls-Windsor, NLThe Rural Secretariat is a unique and innovative Provincial Government entity that strives to advance the sustainability of rural Newfoundland and Labrador communities and regions. It does this by engaging the public in deliberative dialogue about sustainability issues and challenges, supporting collaboration between and among rural stakeholders including governments, and facilitating and conducting research that helps inform government policy and decision-making. As a Human Resources Planner with the Rural Secretariat in Central Newfoundland, I worked closely with the Departments of Human Resources and Employment, Health, and Education to examine the challenges and issues faced with the recruitment and retention of professionals to Central Newfoundland. I completed an extensive literature review of best practices for the recruitment and retention of health and education professionals. This included a review of strategies and best practices used provincially, nationally and internationally. I conducted face-to-face interviews with human resources managers and senior administrators within the health and education sectors to learn first-hand of their challenges. I developed and administrated a survey of more than 2000 expatriates. This survey served to better understand the reasons for why Central Newfoundland residents left the province and what would motivate them to return. During this project, I supervised two college work-term students who assisted with the logistics of the survey. I planned and executed a human resources forum that pulled together more than 150 industry, government and community representatives to discuss challenges and issues, to present the literature review findings and develop an action plan for the future. I developed promotional and educational materials for use by the provincial education and health departments to recruit professionals in those sectors. I worked with graphic designs and printers to finalize the project.
