Health Policy Advisor, Committee on Finance, Senator Bill Roth, Chairman As Health Policy Director for the Committee on Finance, was responsible for the health policy agenda for all major federal health programs under the Finance Committee's jurisdiction. Led and managed a team of top policy advisors covering the Medicare and Medicaid policy agendas, and served as the primary Committee staff liaison to the Legislative and Executive branches. As Senior Health Policy Director to Chairman Bill Frist, led a bipartisan team in developing and crafting the first-ever Medicare reform legislation in the program's 35-year history. Assisted in the development of the healthcare agenda for the Republican Platform at the 2000 Convention and served as a surrogate for the Bush-Cheney Campaign in 2004. Joining as Health Policy Advisor for Chairman Bill Roth, handled oversight and legislation for Medicare Parts A and B. Developed and executed public hearings and was instrumental in crafting legislation around inpatient and outpatient hospital care, physician services, prescription drugs, coverage of new technologies and biologics, quality of care, and fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicare program. Worked on several major pieces legislation, including the Balanced Budget Relief Act of 1999, the Beneficiary Improvement & Protection Act of 2000, and several Medicare prescription drug proposals that formed the foundation of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003.
