Capital Insurance GroupSoftware Engineer
Jun. 2018 - Dec. 2018Spokane, Washington AreaAs part of the CMS (Claims Management System) team I work with .NET Framework, Oracle, BizTalk to build a scalable enterprise claims system that can support a $400 million insurance company. Amongst my responsibilities are:
• Migrate Capital Insurance Group to a production AWS environment capable of ensuring ultimate reliability and scalability.
• Working with business partners that aren’t necessarily aware of software development practices to develop clear, concise and workable business requirements that will satisfy their needs.
• Advise other teams on systems architecture, and providing training on various topics.
• Training and generally mentoring younger and less experienced colleagues on industry best practices.
A few highlights are:
1. Provided a set of training for the entire IT department on Unit Testing, how it fits with Agile development philosophies and how to implement it in existing enterprise software projects. This series is ongoing and covers a number of topics from software architecting to support unit testing, mocking, faking, dependency injection, etc.
2. Presented CMS Q3 deliverables and progress to the business teams in our quarterly Science Fair (basically an open forum for business users of our systems to come see what our team is working on, how they are affected, etc. The users are also able to ask questions and use the system in a demo environment)
