Jul. 2013 - Dec. 2014Honolulu, Hawai'iThe Pacific RISA Program aims to support a holistic, integrated, and multi-stakeholder approach to climate risk management in Hawai'i and the US-Affiliated Pacific Islands. As a result of this approach, broad areas of research and analysis are identified as: i) Physical Sciences (Climate and Hydrology Research), ii) Social Sciences (Cultural, Economic, and Legal Research), and iii) Regional Application (Regional Context, Adaptation Plans and Integrated Water Resource Management). Duties and Responsibilities: - Generate, synthesize, and tailor research activities into concise highlights for distribution to diverse stakeholders.
- Prepare preliminary interpretive reports, including requests and reports to funding and U.S. Government agencies.
- Collect and compile data relating to the broad areas of research listed above, from regional sources and networks following detailed and exact procedures and regulations.
- Identify and follow up on ways in which the Pacific RISA Program can support Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) in climate change adaptation and disaster risk management.
- Maintain project tracking database that includes administrative and financial information for multiple collaborators in Pacific RISA.
- Research and maintain a database of local, regional, and international political changes in the broader field of climate change.
- Initiate, organize, and support all outreach events for Pacific RISA.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships of mutual benefit to the program. Key Achievements: - Organized a high-level event showcasing the Pacific Regional Highlights of the United States Third National Climate Assessment Report in Honolulu, Hawaii. [See Media]
- Membership in various interdisciplinary working groups.
