Somewhere, over the Rainbow...I made an error” This is one of my favourite reminders. Above all good hopes and actions, melted into them, there are a lot of mistakes. The stairway to knowledge is failure made of curiosity, with a hint of stubbornness. It was in November 1996, when I started drawing clothes. I was born in 1985, in a little provincial town in Italy, by the Sea. I have nourished my desire of being a fashion designer through all my life, keeping contemplating and transforming inputs into sketches. After graduating from high school, I went to Polimoda, in Florence. The Dream was starting, finally, to turn into reality. The same reality shocked me; during a marketing lesson, I learnt about the extent to which fashion labour was exploited in many countries, mostly in the East. It was my third year at Polimoda; I was about to graduate and, finally, to start working in fashion. From that day on, I became aware that my childhood dream job was part of an industry mostly based on human slavery and environmental rape. That was a crash, a complete fall from my highest fantasies to the solid reality. I decided, if I were to stay in fashion, to stay away from that approach as much as I could. Sustainability has always been significant in my life. I love to find crossroads between things/ideas/materials that seem to be so far away from each other. I have strong practical skills, like pattern making and tailoring, sewing, draping, and drawing. I love to play with bleach, making Rorschach-like tie-dye. I like to experiment finishings and challenge myself with hand-sewing. I love contemplating what surrounds me – everything, really – because through contemplating I embark on infinite streams of inputs, ideas, inspirations. I love couture because, with its precious crafts, it is just like poetry; it celebrates the best tool of humanity – hands. I made all sorts of garments, among which, evening/bridal dresses and trousers are my favourite.
