Jaguar Land RoverSolutions Architect, iPLM (Contractor)
Mar. 2010 - May. 2015Coventry, United KingdomJLR were implementing a full PLM (Product Life Management system) programme to take control and accountability of all planning processes in manufacture of its luxury vehicles. I successfully design a solution using Dassaults Enovia and Catia within JLR’s iPLM programme to manage and allow proper control and traceability of £1bn worth of company assets (specifically Component tools - the tools for making automotive parts). Due to the complexity of the products and their data dependencies I had to design and implement a Change Management process which was new to the business This project required considerable stakeholder management in an environment which were resistant change, needing a lot persistence, with robust well thought out arguments. The project was due to produce benefits of £6.7 million per annum, the programme’s highest project benefit. I succeeded in designing a POC (proof of concept) purchasing module within Enovia. This covered the full APWT process from RFP (Request for Proposal) to PPAC and product sign off , including all three STA stages to highlight the rigor needed for software/ supplier evaluation and the complexity of data integration when sourcing and implementing a strategic supplier alliance. Successfully integrated a PLM system (Dassault) with into SAP MM module to create a complete ‘End to End’ process using IBM’s ESB Websphere as the integration layer. I developed data migration strategies involving ETL (Extract Transform and Load) processes. The migration of data was done by an offshore team which I managed. Successfully created a number of conceptual and foundational projects, including removing intelligence from numbering schemas and the digitisation of colour. This involved creating a standard reference for all colours, including 2 dimensional for print and screen or 3 dimensional such as body paint with directional integrated flex’s or textured material for car interiors.
Data Architect/Developer – (Contract)
Aston Martin Lagonda LtdData Architect/Developer – (Contract)
Jan. 2006 - Mar. 2011Gaydon WarwickshireDesigned, developed and executed a three-tier application to conduct FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to identify and address emerging issues. This meant that manufacturing could priories the most costly and common problems, design could correct design errors and Aftersales could estimate the Warranty bill. To do this I successfully facilitated the warehousing process of warranty and aftersales data by integrating disparate systems and standardising the data, which gave a comprehensive single source of data which allowed areas throughout the business to get a better measure on quality. Used SQL for data mining to support the Business Intelligence (BI) analysis, whilst creating an intuitive GUI for data analysis, input plus dashboards and reports to show the results of information analysis. This led directly to a 15% reduction of the warranty bill due to early detection of faults and their correction. Product Quality used this information to gauge quality improvement in the AML products • Optimised and automated the ETL processes by defining, designing and developing bespoke applications. • Resolved data quality issues and archived processes for legacy warranty data through Master Data Management (MDM) and governance strategies.
