Ultimately I did the blog using a db and a some kind of Cake PHP lib I can’t remember the name but I also coded a SMS portlet for the UI that allowed users to send free SMS through a third party SMS Gateway. I and the team attended many hackathons and got a good start into the mainstream from a host of varying start-up owners, devs and the community at large.
