• Bank stress testing for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia – using STATA, to analyze the effects of various macro-variables on levels of NPLs to determine external risk factors and banks’ ability to handle medium-term risk.
• Analyzed interconnectedness and spillovers on Kuwaiti banks and insurance companies to determine effects of one entity’s probability of default on others.
• Developed a tool for government and corporate sector risk assessment and management to calculate Interest Coverage Ratios (ICRs), Distance to Default (DD) and Probabilities of Default.
• Prepared regular analytical summaries on developments of financial markets, sovereign debt, inflation, trade and other economic indicators.
• Monitored high frequency data to support surveillance work by accumulating and analyzing national statistics for economic and financial projections; interpreted data through charts, tables and other visual tools.
• Participated in 4 country missions:
Article IV and Program Review to Afghanistan (Sept. 2013): Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA), MDGs updates, Doing Business Indicators, Banking and Monetary sector overview. Article IV Mission to Saudi Arabia (May 2013): Fiscal accounts and budgetary developments, banking and corporate sector analyses. Article IV Mission to Bahrain (January 2012): Corporate vulnerabilities, financial sector analysis. Staff visit to Qatar (April 2011) – Verified monetary data.
• Managed country macro-framework, sector files, and extensive databases for the GCC countries. Maintained and established links between documentation and quantitative data and country macro framework files (national accounts, balance of payments, fiscal accounts and monetary survey).
• Contributed to policy notes, staff reports, Selected Issues Papers (SIPs). Reported accurate data and resolved issues with country teams for the production of the World and Regional Economic Outlook publications and Global Financial Stability Report.
