Work Background
Mechanical Engineer - New Product Development
Rice Lake Weighing SystemsMechanical Engineer - New Product Development
May. 2024Rice Lake, Wisconsin, United StatesAs a New Product Development Engineer at Rice Lake Weighing Systems, I lead the mechanical development of two advanced, technology-driven products intended for worldwide use. I also support cross-functional teams with quoting, design validation, and production support—requiring both deep technical expertise and strong project coordination across a broad range of products. Key Responsibilities & Contributions: • Leading the mechanical design and development of two innovative new products, including concept generation, prototyping, testing, and design for manufacturability. • Managing complex, fast-paced development timelines while balancing priorities across multiple active projects. • Designing and implementing highly technical automated test fixtures for production environments, enabling consistent quality control and reducing manual labor. • Conducting in-depth testing of new systems, including environmental, mechanical, and functional validation to meet internal and global regulatory requirements. • Supporting the quoting process with feasibility analysis and detailed technical proposals for new and custom product opportunities. • Coordinating with engineering, software, purchasing, and production teams to ensure smooth project execution and alignment across departments. • Regularly engaging in project planning, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline development processes. This role has strengthened my ability to manage technically complex projects while delivering practical, tested solutions that meet global performance, compliance, and manufacturing standards.
Mechanical Design Engineer
FastenalMechanical Design Engineer
Sep. 2023 - May. 2024Led the mechanical design, PLC integration, pneumatics, and programming for a two-semester senior design project sponsored by Fastenal. Our team of five engineering students developed an automated system to mark threaded rods, replacing a manual process with a more efficient and consistent solution. Key Responsibilities & Achievements: • Served as lead for mechanical design, creating 3D CAD models and detailed assemblies using SolidWorks. • Designed and implemented the pneumatic system, selecting and integrating components for reliability and ease of maintenance. • Programmed and integrated a PLC to automate system functions and ensure synchronized operation. • Developed ROI and scaling calculations to evaluate implementation feasibility at Fastenal’s manufacturing facility in Malaysia. • Conducted iterative prototyping, testing, and FMEA reviews to validate system performance. • Collaborated with Fastenal engineers for design feedback, feasibility assessments, and final system evaluation. • Delivered a functional prototype that met project requirements for throughput, consistency, and cost-effectiveness. This project demonstrated my ability to lead cross-disciplinary engineering efforts while also addressing business considerations for global scalability.
Research And Development Engineer intern
Infinity Retail ServicesResearch And Development Engineer intern
May. 2022 - Aug. 2022Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, United StatesAs an R&D Engineer Intern at Infinity Retail Services, I contributed to the design, prototyping, and testing of custom retail fixtures and displays. Working closely with senior engineers and designers, I helped develop innovative solutions to meet client-specific requirements, emphasizing manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. Key Responsibilities & Contributions: • Supported the full product development lifecycle from concept to prototype. • Created 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks. • Assisted in materials selection, feasibility analysis, and performance testing. • Collaborated with cross-functional teams including fabrication, project management, and purchasing. • Participated in design reviews and provided input on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) improvements. This internship gave me hands-on experience in turning creative concepts into engineered solutions within a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
