Apr. 2011 - Jan. 2023Washington, District Of ColumbiaChief advisor to the Speaker of the House on climate, environment, energy, technology, media, telecommunications, science, time and consumer protection policy. • Represented the Speaker in negotiations to enact laws signed by Democratic and Republican presidents to make historic investments in American energy and supply chains to address the climate crisis, close the broadband access and affordability divides and the homework gap, improve and invest in the federal scientific research enterprise, repair environmental damage, protect and restore millions of acres of parks, wild lands and waters, hold corporations accountable, reform consumer product laws, chemical safety standards and more. • Highlights include the Inflation Reduction Act described by the UN Development Program as “the most significant legislation in history to tackle the climate crisis”, the CHIPS and Science Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act which closes Internet divides, the American Rescue Plan, the Great American Outdoors Act, and annual defense and appropriations laws. • Credited in the House Select Committee’s Solving the Climate Crisis action plan and the House Judiciary Committee’s Investigation on Competition in Digital Markets. • Drafted legislation and amendments, prepared letters, speeches, statements and other materials to implement the Speaker’s and members’ legislative and communications strategy.
