The remaining infrastructure scope and tiny team size were not aligned with my interests, nor did it require my skill set. May. 2021 - Nov. 2022Berlin, Berlin, GermanyAs both CTO and CPO, I led the teams (engineering, product, & design) responsible for developing digital travel experiences in the complex multi-day tour space. While trying to instill a strong Product-Mindset in a German tour operator, I built a multi-year digital tech strategy designed to help Tourlane have global impact making dream trips a reality for more customers around the world. Over my 2+ years with the company, Tourlane's tech team was laser focused on extending the digital traveler experience with more customer journeys, ensuring the travel agent tools are intuitive & efficient to serve customers, and moving from an old-school tourism supply to a world-class digital supply platform. Despite a global pandemic, we raised $20M during a pandemic on the back of the tech delivery.

Nov. 2017 - Jan. 2020Berlin Area, GermanyLed 15 cross-functional teams building tools and services for merchants of all sizes using Klarna products to give consumers progressive payment options. These teams including 120 people from engineering, product, design, marketing, and data analytics. Other responsibilities include being the Product Leader for risk, credit issuing, merchant analytics, & fraud teams, as well as mentoring a new domain focused on building a Consumer Bank. Wrote 1st edition of Klarna's Product 101 book. Taught Klarna the art of writing (Working Backwards Press Releases, 1 & 6 pagers, strategy documents) & led organizational changes including three reorgs and a product decommission. As a site leader in the Klarna Berlin office, owned the Product Management hiring pipeline and participated in the day-to-day operations of a secondary tech hub.

These products (both software and hardware) focused on stroke, mental health, clinic care, and hospitalist services that allowed patients in remote locations to receive world class healthcare. Also, led the launch of the first mobile app for patients of the hospital system enabling a personalized experience and improving the ability to make the best healthcare choices.

Jun. 2015 - May. 2016Bellevue, WABuilt software architecture competence and review forum for the Financial and Transactional service organizations for all Expedia brands. Led strategic planning and a full organizational restructuring, including building a cloud strategy and real-time financial reporting platform. Why only 1 year you ask? Expedia is a decent company but it wasn’t a good fit. It was a new and largely unnecessary role. So after a year, I decided to go back to building things. 😊

AmazonSenior Technical Product Manager

May. 2012 - May. 2015Greater Seattle AreaJoined Amazon to bring card-present payment experience to the Global Payments Services (GPS) teams building Amazon Local Register. Took over Product Management responsiblities for all Core Transaction services including wallet, tokenization, payment routing, and the secure edge (DMZ). Was employee number 1 who architected, designed the requirements, and grew the team for the invoicing platform for Amazon Business, replacing Oracle solution with in-house business line of credit invoicing solution. I went into Amazon a good product manager and came out great. The rigor, writing, and pace was an education in product delivery and team work. Forever grateful.
