Princeton University Office of SustainabilityEcological Representative
Feb. 2016 - Feb. 2019Princeton, NJI serve in three different capacities: Greening Reunions Crew Leader, Mend Project Leader, and Green Leaders Coordinator. As a Greening Reunions Crew Leader, I oversaw recycling, sorting and clean-up processes at tent sites at Reunions, an annual alumni event at Princeton with over 25,000 alumni returning to campus resulting in the use of over 100,000 plastic cups. I coordinated and motivated Greening Reunions workers to reduce waste generated during the weekend through on-site work, and I analyzed operational processes designed to encourage sustainable behavior and improve efficiency and participation. As a Mend Project Leader, I coordinated biweekly meetings for Mend, a sewing lab started by a few of my peers and I to teach students a life skill (sewing), be more financially viable, and help promote a mindset that moves away from a dependence on disposable products. I helped to create a timeline of effective and efficient goals in order to start up Mend, and procure all of the necessary resources to run the space, and solicited cross-campus support in the project from members of the university administration to the heads of various relevant campus centers. Additionally, I worked to help create ways to accurately gauge campus interest and maintain necessity of the project. As the Green Leaders Coordinator, I hosted monthly meetings for a council of environmental student groups on campus to discuss various issues, and to work on collaboration between the groups and the Office of Sustainability. I planned and coordinate large-scale campus events, including a campus-wide Earth Day celebration that involved the coordination of 11 environmental student groups, food, logistics, performances, and publicity. My most important responsibility was to facilitate discussion between the groups towards furthering the Office's goals.
