Apr. 2022 - Apr. 2024Kennesaw, Georgia, United StatesLed a team of mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, and software engineers (as well as interns) in the development of complex new product development programs in the Life Science equipment sector - mainly automated laboratory homogenization equipment – including rotor/stator, bead beating, and ultrasonic. I own bringing together all of the various disciplines required - mechanical design, system design, electrical design, software development, and system test/validation of the multi-axis automated machines. Worked with Product Managers to ensure the proper specification of new products and ensuring that the engineering team meets the expected deliverables at launch. Supported VA/VE and sustaining efforts as well as NPV (New product variants) on existing products where expert design assistance is required. Responsible for working with operations on frequent component substitutions due to supply chain issues. Supported customer service and post-sales groups with customer issue resolutions – working directly with the customer where needed. Managed the Engineering budget, capital requests, and reported out project status weekly to the rest of the senior management staff. Facilitated daily SCRUM meeting with the engineering team and outside stakeholders in order to solve issues as they arise quickly and effectively. Responsible for candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring of new engineering team members. Redesigned several previously highly detailed machined plastic components for injection molding - evaluated many materials for strength, durability, and cost. Worked directly with mold designers and builders to achieve acceptable performance and process capability – resulting in significant savings. Responsible for the engineering team’s adherence to ISO processes and documenting incidents where required.
