Suffield AcademyAnnual Charity Fund Co-Organizer
Oct. 2019 - Mar. 2020Suffield, Connecticut, United StatesI, along with another Bahamian classmate, organized Suffield Academy's 2019-2020 annual school fundraiser, to raise money and awareness for the victims of Hurricane Dorian which devastated two islands in The Bahamas early that fall. We collaborated with the local Bahamian community center, Hands for Hunger which works to minimize food insecurity in Bahamian communities. We worked all school year tirelessly up until March when we were sent home because of COVID. We continue to use Hands for Hunger to promote residents and international donors to continue supporting and donating. As I'm half Bahamian, this charity was close to home. I knew the impact and importance of this being our annual charity and working day by day to provide what was needed rather than what was assumed to be required.
