HAMK Häme University of Applied SciencesAnnual Resource Guest Expert - Development Cooperation Courses
Sep. 2016 - Sep. 2018The Development Cooperation Courses organised in HAMK and supervised by Eija Laitinen is an excellent programme that gives students a very practical and systematic approach at development cooperation policies in Finland, and on a global scale. The program equips students with the tools and skills to think, design, plan, innovate, and involve local participation, in implementing sustainable and long-term projects towards developing countries for social impact. My role, once in year is to share resource expertise on 1. how to harness these tools and skills, 2. discuss real-time projects that utilise the development cooperation planning modules, 3. share practical experiences from my line of work and 4. guide them in making better and informed decisions when it comes to designing, planning and implementing projects in developing countries particularly in Africa. Topic discussions centre around gender equality, poverty reduction schemes, agriculture and trade policies affecting development projects, among others.
