We successfully managed to succeed in such challenging times, when we saw sales volumes double despite the initial predictions of drastic reduction due to Covid-19 pandemic - as most of other industries we prepared ourselves to slower sales pace and had to react very quickly when it happened completely the opposite. As the global head of this department my main responsibilities are: - develop strategic measures to ensure that the company has the ability to measure productivity and efficiencies. - establish an engineering excellence program that drives standards and adoption of the standards within the 10,000+ employees in all geographies. work with industry partners to assess, select and deploy tools that drive efficiencies within the GLT. - be an active member of the company executive committee to drive and influence change at the senior leadership team. - provision of support to all IT delivery teams related to process and technology standards and tooling. - drive GLT organisation to implement quality improvement programs resulting in industry standards certificates like CMMi, ITIL, etc. - institute global platforms, promote technology sharing and leverage operating environments to achieve greater cost efficiency. - provide senior executives with directional trends and technological positioning of the company relative to the mission and industry. - cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the company brand. - ensure compliance with all regulatory needs in each operational geography. As the head of this department I was responsible to implement a two-years quality improvement program that resulted in all centers being certified at CMMI Level 3, reduction or early detection of defects (today 65% of defects are detected at review stage - before it was around 30%) and increased productivity.

The teams under my remit were responsible for developing and supporting software to business users located at the main HSBC hubs in New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong. They also supported satellite sites like Brazil and Mexico. My main responsibilities in this role were: - Operational Effectiveness & Control: ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behavior. Ensure high level of operational efficiency and ensure optimum resource utilization. - Customers/Stakeholders: ensure projects are delivered to a high standard with minimal defects, to time, budget and functional demand. Ensure production support and related services are executed in line with agreed SLAs. - Leadership & Teamwork: demonstrate corporate values and leadership principles and drive the GLT teams towards adding the same or more value that onshore resources do. Represent the local team in GBM Senior Management forum. Implement and comply with Group Compliance Policy and practices, processes and procedures. Be aware of and manage operational risks associated with the role, including risks around project execution, IT changes and RTB services. - Also accountable for ensuring strategies and plans are defined, communicated and understood in the context of the overall plans for GBM and GLT. Ensure that financial plans are met. I managed to expand this team from 20 people to 200+ staff helping the company to save roughly 20M USD/year on costs by shifting work from high to low cost locations without compromising quality & productivity.
