Co-founder and CTO
Agência ClickLabCo-founder and CTO
Sep. 2011 - Jan. 2017Brasília Area, BrazilIn 2011 I co-founded ClickLab, a Digital Marketing Agency offering market research, online sales optimizations, website and e-commerce development. I was CTO and eventually CEO and led the company to a 25-people strong team with large government and medium sized local accounts. We had two main teams: a social media and marketing campaign team, and a development team. In my CTO role these were my responsabilities: - Linux systems administration - Co-location server procurement and management - AWS (Amazon Web Services) management - Implementation of backup routines and bash shell scripts - PHP development - MySQL database management - Leading the development team in medium-sized private and government contracts (SEBRAE International Observatory, Plaza Hotel Chain e-commerce platform, etc) My main attributions revolved arround managing the company strategy participating in public and private contract bids, and technically acting as system administrator / DevOps for our various projects. During these years we won several awards such as "Prêmio Colunistas" WSA and Interactive Media Awards. Notable projects included the International Observatory portal for SEBRAE as well as developping from scratch a fully fledged e-commerce platform for Plaza Brasilia Hotels, which was hosted in an AWS envivronment. During this period I also spoke in several conferences such as Social Media Brazil and Twestival, and also contributed to a monthly column dedicated to online marketing for the Fecomercio Magazine, the largest business magazine in the state. At the end of 2016 we decided to pivot the business model to focus on performance marketing. We sold the content production division to Moringa Digital, a local competitor. At this point I decided to pursue other projects and sold my shares to my partner.
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
WriteWork.comCo-founder and Chief Technology Officer
Sep. 1997 - Jan. 2014Manchester - UK, Lyon - France, Brasilia - BrazilAs the CTO my roles were: - Hiring and leading the development team - Devops and linux system administration (RedHat Enterprise) - Procurement and configuration of co-located servers at the Equinix data center in West Virginia. - High availability configuration for MySQL and Apache servers - PHP developper - DNS configuration - Coding scripts to migrate and convert databases - XSLT coding - Scrum Master I was responsible for all technical aspects of the digital library. With over 1 million monthly pageviews and over 350.000 users, I foresaw hosting and development operations, from sourcing our co-location providers to hiring the development team and supervising the SCRUM sprints as the SCRUM Master. In the early days of WriteWork, I was mainly concerted with Perl coding. When PHP and MySQL became available, I wrote code to convert a perl-based flat-file database into a MYSQL database, generating the database structure and normalization necessary as well as all SQL code that needed to be generated in order to implement the conversion. I also took care of separating the back-end code from the front-end code using XSLT. I conducted several migration initiatives, first from virtual hosting to co-located servers at the Equinix data-center in Virginia, and then migrating all services to the cloud at Amazon Web Services. My day to day included writing bash and PHP scripts, managing backups, managing high availability for MYSQL servers and optimizing the service together with our developpers in order to reduce page load times and server capacity. I was also involved in other side projects, such as structuring the customer support department, and helping with operations, hiring the development and techinical personnel, and finally, in 2014, together with my co-founder, in preparing the company to be sold, which we successfully did, selling to the largest global competitor in our industry at the time: StudyMode.com.

I also lead an accounting/legal restructuring of the company to take advantages of tax benefits available in Brazil and in the US in order to streamline profits, a US-based financial services company was created in the process. In 2013 we decided to sell Writework.com and I was heavily involved, as a member of the board, in helping prepare the company for its sale.
