Sep. 2012 - Dec. 2012This was a "fire-fighting" emergency rescue attempt of a company that had 90 days of cash flow and a list of hostile creditors knocking down the doors. It was one of the best experiences of my life as never before or after did I have to deal with such immense business pressures. Sadly, I also had to blow the whistle on the existing board members who had, allegedly, used practices, not in line with the stipulations of their major financiers. This lead to the eventual self-liquidation of the company by the shareholders, who were also board members. This ended what was a very enriching experience for me, prematurely.

I have developed strategies for large corporations that have stood them in good stead for a decade; I have helped an industry clean up a glaring abuse at retail level by large corporations; I was recognised and used by the Competitions Authority as an expert witness in key mergers and acquisitions. Most of all, I have had huge fun running the business and seeing others develop next to me. Knowstosis is a management consultancy est. 1989 with strong roots in industrial, automotive and financial markets. It wasn’t the most satisfying journey but it was the most enabling and empowering. It is with great gratitude that I allow my time at Knowstosis to fade into the horizon.

Nov. 2000 - Jun. 2002I arrived at First National Bank as the first employee after a major restructure. My divisional CEO asked in the interview if I wanted to come and build a customer-centric and retail orientated bank and I did not hesitate to sign on. Within weeks I ran the culture change program that had to build up a demoralised post-restructure workforce. It turned out to be the most enriching experience of my life. When people who had worked there for 30 years started calling me up to tell me that they have never enjoyed working there as much as now, it filled me with a sense of meaning and accomplishment. From there I spent 6 months at the side of the overall CEO as the executive assistant after which I transferred to the technology incubator called Scion where I quickly realised that unless I am in charge of operations, I am not the most suitable corporate candidate simply because of the slow pace.
