California Air Resources BoardAir Resource Engineer
Mar. 2023Riverside, California, United StatesAs an Air Resources Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, I work at the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) Mobile Source Laboratory (MSLD) to protect air quality and promote sustainability. At MSL, we conduct advanced research and testing to identify and reduce emissions from mobile sources, including cars, trucks, off-road equipment, and small engines. In my role, I oversee testing schedules and perform emissions testing on heavy-duty on-road and off-road engines and powerpacks using state-of-the-art dynamometer and emissions measurement systems. I prepare engines for testing, conduct calibrations and QA/QC procedures, and ensure compliance with California and federal regulatory requirements. My responsibilities include analyzing emission data, authoring detailed test reports, and presenting findings to support certification, compliance, and regulatory development programs. I also maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure peak performance, manage test cell supplies, and contribute to the development of laboratory standard operating procedures. Through collaboration with engineers, scientists, and policymakers, I support the development of innovative technologies and strategies that reduce emissions while fostering economic growth and sustainability. Additionally, I engage with stakeholders, including industry representatives and the public, to ensure that our research and regulatory programs are practical, effective, and forward-thinking. With a passion for sustainability and a commitment to improving air quality, I am proud to contribute to CARB's mission of creating healthier, cleaner communities in California and beyond.
